Luther Ragsdale: The Secret to Becoming a Successful Real Estate Agent

When it comes to succeeding in the real estate industry maybe there is no guaranteed secret recipe that will instantly make you a star, but according to Real Estate CEO and broker of 30 years Luther Ragsdale, there are several rules that should be applied. These steps as he calls them are all key ingredients for success. But before even starting with these rules, Luther Ragsdale reminds that the road to real estate success starts with a plan, and if you are going to be successful you have to have an idea of what success will be.

The first rule that Ragsdale points out is making an investment in marketing. Top agents know that by investing in their own marketing, or promotion of their business, they attract more potential clients and hence increase revenues. Success is measured in numbers, but most agents ignore the importance and the need of investing in their own marketing. The most reputable and successful agents are those that use a variety of marketing tools to become just that - known and successful. If you only advertise property of offers, you are nothing more than a number in a long list of Luther Ragsdale. But if you advertise yourself and your services, you increase your chances of becoming one of the well-known and therefore successful agents.

The second rule that Ragsdale proposes is again related to investment in marketing, but this time in different forms of marketing. Successful agents know that investing in only one form of marketing promotion is simply not enough. It is necessary to take advantage of as many different possibilities as possible. For example in the past Ragsdale has promoted himself and his services from real estate magazines, web portals specialized for real estate, through various advertisers all the way to his own website. The presence of agents in various media creates trust among potential clients. Buyers and sellers will first think of those that they’ve already seen or heard of.

The third rule and last, but never the less important rule is to track the advertising results. How much, and whether advertising has yielded results in your business is not a matter of assumptions but an actual measurement reached through increased number of phone calls, e-mail queries and similar things. Conducting a customer survey is another way to track results, and for Luther Ragsdale this has proved to be a rather handy tool.
